Primary responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute blasting operations in accordance with safety regulations and project requirements
- Select, handle, and securely store explosives, adhering to legal and company standards
- Design blast patterns, calculate necessary quantities of explosives, and determine charge placement for maximum effectiveness and minimal environmental impact
- Monitor and evaluate post-blast outcomes to optimize future operations and improve techniques
- Collaborate closely with engineers, safety officers, and project managers to ensure that blasting operations align with overall project timelines and objectives
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, minimizing disruption to surrounding areas and preventing damage to adjacent structures
- Maintain accurate records of blasting operations, including explosives used, safety checks, and blast outcomes
- Train and mentor junior team members in blasting techniques, safety protocols, and equipment handling
Desired qualifications and attributes:
Qualifications:
- Certified and licensed Blaster with extensive knowledge of explosive materials and blasting techniques in Norway
- Several years of experience in blasting operations within construction, mining, or tunnel excavation projects
- Comprehensive understanding of national and international regulations governing the use of explosives
- Proficient in designing and implementing blast plans, considering geological conditions and project specifications
- Familiarity with modern blasting technologies, including electronic detonators and blast simulation software
- Good knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations
- Ability to operate specialized blasting equipment and ensure proper maintenance of tools and machines
