The project involves the reconstruction of the tunnel complex in Tromsø, including the widening of the Mellom tunnel to four lanes and the excavation of eight new technical chambers, along with the installation of water and frost insulation.

Project characteristics
The project involves the reconstruction of the city tunnel complex in Tromsø, which consists of five tunnels: Breivika, Hansjordnes, Sentrumstangenten, Mellom and Langnes tunnel.
The project is divided into two phases, with no traffic in the tunnels during the upgrade.
Driving includes the excavation of 8 new technical rooms, expansion of existing rooms, re-excavation of the roundabouts and expansion of the Mellomtunnel from 2-lane to 4-lane. The work also includes additional bolting and shotcreting in the existing tunnels.
Water and frost protection is being installed in new or expanded spaces and other areas in existing tunnels.
