Project characteristics
E39 Lonset Hjelset includes 9,3 km long section with 2-3 lanes road, for improvement of traffic situation in Molde suburb.
Metrostav Norge AS, as subcontractor, builds 7 new bridges – 5 bridges as prefabricated beams, one bridge on formwork with pre-tensioned reinforcement and ne on formwork with regular reinforcement. The largest structures are Hageelvabru and Hjelsetkryssetbru.
Hageelvabru is a bridge with prefabricated beams with the largest span of 40.6 metres. The logistics and assembly were challenging in this case, and a ship and a large mobile 500t crane were used.
In the design phase, the Hjelsetkrysset bridge was shortened and built as a bridge with only three spans using prestressing. It is the approach road to the new road section under which the roundabout will be built.
The design of Miljøkulvert has been modified and various prefabricated beams have been used to make construction more efficient. Due to a progress adjustment caused by quick clay, Metrostav Norge AS was only the supplier of beams for this construction.
