The E8 Sørbotn-Laukslett project involves the construction of a highway between Sørbotn and Laukslett, including the 870-meter-long Ramfjord bridge and 8 other smaller bridges, culverts and one reindeer crossing.

Project characteristics

A new highway between Sørbotn and Laukslett provides safer and shorter route to Tromsø. The E8 Sørbotn-Laukslett project includes the construction of a new bridge over the Ramfjord, eight other smaller bridges or culverts, one reindeer crossing and ca 10 kilometers of roads.

Bridge Ramfjord is a reinforced concrete substructure with composit superstructure, with the lenght of 870 meters. It has five main spans of 135 meters and sidespans. Five foundations are hammered piles from barges, with length up to 80m. Superstructure steelbox is divided into 7 section for the lifting, with heaviest lift around 900 tons.

Besides Ramfjord bridge, Metrostav Norge AS also builds 8 other bridge objects in the total lenght of more than 258 meters and one reindeer crossing with the lenght of 33 meters.
